Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how Texas Midwest Optical (“we,” “us”) handles information in connection with this website, texasmidwestoptical.com. It covers the website only. Information you share with us in person or by phone as a patient or customer is handled under our in-office practices and, where it is protected health information, under the federal HIPAA Privacy Rule and our separate Notice of Privacy Practices, which you may request at the optical.
Information we collect
This website does not have accounts, online ordering or a contact form, and we do not ask you to submit personal information through it.
Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically record technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited and the date and time of your visit. These server logs are used to keep the site secure and working properly.
If you call us, email us or message us on Facebook, we receive whatever information you choose to share, such as your name, phone number and the reason for contacting us.
How we use information
We use information to respond to your questions, schedule and provide optical services, maintain and secure the website, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Cookies and third-party services
This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Some pages include features provided by other companies, which may set their own cookies or collect technical data under their own privacy policies:
- Google Maps, embedded on some pages to show our location (Google’s privacy policy applies).
- Facebook, which we link to. If you follow that link or message us there, Meta’s privacy policy applies.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work.
Health information and social media
Please do not send medical information, prescriptions or insurance numbers through Facebook or other social media. These channels are not secure and are not monitored for urgent issues. Call the optical instead. For a medical emergency, call 911.
Children’s privacy
This website is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 online. Parents and guardians handle eyewear for children directly with our staff.
Data security and retention
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to a small practice. Server logs are kept only as long as our hosting provider needs them for security and operations. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.
Your choices and rights
You may contact us to ask what information we have about you from your communications with us, or to ask us to correct or delete it, subject to legal and recordkeeping requirements. Patients have additional rights over their health records under HIPAA, described in our Notice of Privacy Practices.
Links to other websites
Our site links to other websites, such as Texas Midwest Eye Center, Google Maps and Facebook. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites.
